When did your IQPC career begin? It began in July 2011, first job out of university, just 1 month after I graduated
What is your current role and responsibilities? I head up the Global FPSO and Asian Government and Defence Portfolio as MD of IQPC Global Innovation, a subsidiary of IQPC’s Singapore business
What initially attracted you to join the conference industry? The prospect of networking with various stakeholders from different industries, and creating valuable networking and learning platforms for these stakeholders
And why IQPC? IQPC had a good write up about training and development on the website and I was really motivated by the opportunities for personal development
What do you enjoy about IQPC life? Change is constant, it’s an incredibly fast-paced environment which constantly keeps you thinking on your feet, to adapt, survive and thrive! I’ve also established strong relationships with my core team and we enjoy working together. This has translated into business success as we constantly seek to push new boundaries.
What lessons have you learnt during your time here? Lots! Embrace change, grab opportunities when they come and to be dynamic and commercial. I’ve also learnt to adapt to different working styles and cultures
How has your career developed since you started with us? I started off as a junior producer, was producing the office’s third largest event in 9 months, and then the largest event by the 1 year mark. Following which, I was promoted to Deputy Divisional Director, Divisional Director and now MD of a business unit. I’d say I’m pretty good evidence that IQPC definitely provides a rewarding career path and opportunity for ambitious, talented and driven individuals.
What’s next? What do you think the next year will hold for you and for the business? The main goal for IQPC Global Innovation is to deepen our oil & gas and defence brands. 2017 holds tremendous opportunity for us to grow and cement our place in the defence space in Asia Pacific. We’ve already made incredible headways in government partnerships and seen strong results from these collaborative events so we will be looking to further consolidate our position as the leading player in the government and defence space next year. And of course, despite low oil process, we’ll stay committed to our core business, servicing the FPSO and FLNG sector with the highest quality events possible.
