Proudly supporting our local community

To take on the spirit of The International Day of Charity on the 5th of September, IQPC London clubbed together to support our local community and collected donations for The Passage. The Passage run London’s largest voluntary sector resource centre for homeless and vulnerable people, helping up to 200 men and women each day.

Passage 2

The Passage do some amazing work to help individuals address the issues that have contributed to them being, or are keeping them homeless, and to enable them to move on to live safe, happy and fulfilling lives. With dedicated and skilled support workers, The Passage can help with not only the current situation but also long standing issues such as substance misuse and mental health issues. The work they do is life changing.

With Westminster seeing its highest rates of rough sleeping last year and with homelessness in London increasing 18% on the previous year, sadly marking a consecutive 7-year rise in rough-sleeping in the UK, it is more important than ever we support those in need around us and give back.

So to help The Passage continue their hard work, IQPC collected and donated useful items that could make all the difference to those in need, such as shoes, sleeping bags, toiletries, bags and food. The van is loaded and the donations are off to great cause!

Passage 1

A huge thank you to all of the team for all the items collected across the business and of course, the IQPC Charity Committee for organizing this. Please take some time today to check out The Passage website: http://passage.org.uk/ and see how you could also get involved.

5 year IQPC Veteran and a “Million Dollar” Girl… meet Nichole

US Top SalesIn February last year we ran an Employee Spotlight Interview on Nichole, one of our Top Sales Reps in IQPC New York.

Another year has passed and Nichole’s achievements continue to grow, so as she celebrates her 5 year anniversary with IQPC we wanted to check in again and find out a little more about her story…

How did you come to find your way to IQPC New York?

Honestly, I NEVER thought I’d land a successful career in sales!   I went to school for Social Work and thought that would be my path but after graduation, I realized I didn’t want to pursue a master degree so I starting working as a Behavioral Specialist at a school and realized that wasn’t the right fit for me either. I was at a crossroads. I thought long and hard about what it was that I love to do; I love talking with people and helping others!  So when my brother’s BFF suggested I consider trying out sales at his company IQPC, I decided to give it a shot!   That was just over 5 years ago!

Well, we’re so happy you came to us!  What’s your journey been like these past 5 years?

I started with the VIP team, then moved over to Delegate Acquisition (Outbound Sales) for a few months and finally moved in the Enquiry (Inbound Sales) team.  I was really nervous to switch teams each time because I saw how challenging it was going to be, but I could also see clearly the rewards that were waiting for me if I did.

Any favorite memories / highlights you can share?

I very clearly remember when I closed my first deal, everyone on my team shredded up some napkins to make “confetti’ and tossed them in their air to celebrate with me!  I’m sure the office cleaning crew wasn’t happy with us that day but it was a special memory for me…. Also, my boss told me to call my Mom and Dad to let them know, which I did, of course 🙂

Not surprisingly, my other favorite memory is when I become a “Million Dollar” girl!

What’ s the team culture like within the Sales Department?

The team is very close knit and for me, after 5 year, it really feels like a family.  We sit quite close to each other so we know A-LOT about each other both personally and professionally.  We work really hard but we also have a lot of fun and share a lot of laughs… sometimes we have morning bingo or other kinds of rev up sessions, for example jeopardy or area code trivia, just fun ways to get everyone pumped to up to attack the day.

The management team creates a great culture, my manager always looks out for my best interests, I can be very open with him and he’s always ready to listen and treats me fairly.

My relationship with my coworkers is great as well…  if anyone is having a bad month sales wise, everyone supports and encourages each other.  At the same time we’re super competitive!  Everyone’s numbers are up on the board so we all know all the time where we are rank, we are constantly pushing each other to do better. We have each other backs but we also keep either other on their toes!

What advice would you give to other who are new to the team or are thinking about joining?

Well, I messed up quite a bit in the beginning and made mistakes, but I learned from those mistakes and found that small failures can be some of the best ways to learn. So my advice to newer employees is to be patient and give it time; there’s a learning curve and it can be hard in the beginning but if you put in the hard work you can succeed!

Like I said, I had my fair share of challenges at the start but it was all worth it…I genuinely really like the work I do and the money I earn!

Last question, are you looking forward to going shopping for your 5 year anniversary gift, the watch of your choice?

Absolutely!  Can’t wait!

IQPC gets moving again with the annual B2Run Berlin

On August 16, 2018, more than 14,200 participants from around 800 companies ran through the Olympic Park and down to the Stadium, as part of the B2Run Berlin.

For the third consecutive year IQPC joined in the fun with 22 starters from across all departments in the business. Sporting the motto “get off the office chair and into your sport shoes” the B2Run encourages teams to get fit together and have some fun. The 5 km track is accessible to everyone and it was an amazing atmosphere and a great team day out. Congratulations to all our runners!

We asked Ian, one of our annual runners a bit more about his experience and why he takes part each year…

I enjoyed running around the grounds and into the stadium especially to finish on the stadium track. That was a great buzz! And I was so happy to be able to run a race again after being injured for many months.

The B2Run is great for team moral and there are the obvious health benefits too. A lot of praise goes out to some of my team mates who had zero training, but still signed up, got involved, and made it round the course. A great achievement.

Who did you meet at work today?

One of the best and most unique perks that a career in the commercial conference world offers is the chance to rub shoulders with some of the world’s most inspiring business leaders.

At #CustomerContactWeek in Vegas last month the incredible entrepreneur and author Barbara Corcoran kicked off the show with a detailed account of her awesome success story, that is a true example of the American Dream.

Listening to her story and meeting her in person afterwards, our Executive Director Mario and his team also had the chance to benefit from her coaching and guidance on hiring and motivating teams. Direct, clear, and logical advice that they plan to implement straight away!

We may not have an onsite cafeteria in IQPC New York but I think the team would agree, they’d take time with Barbara over a free lunch any day!

Meet the Team: Inbound Sales, IQPC Sydney

This week we had the pleasure of talking with one of our Sydney based Sales Teams.

The team’s focus is on in-bound sales; working closely with marketing they follow up on targeted leads to convert enquiries into delegates for our events.

But this blog isn’t about what they do, but who they are. Passionate and driven, they have an infectious commitment to both their own development and business results. So we wanted to find out more about why they love their Life and Work at IQPC…

Meet Sam

Joining the business straight from University, in just under 3 years Sam has progressed from his first role in sales to running his first team. He’s a fantastic testimony to where hard work and commitment can take you…

This is my first role since leaving university and from day 1 I have received the care and support from both my manger and the rest of the team to achieve things I didn’t realise I was capable of.

In the 2 and a half years I’ve worked in EQ, I’ve gone from a sales rep to managing a team of my own.

The opportunities for personal growth and career development are a huge motivator for someone who has never worked in sales before.

The importance that is placed on teamwork and the work hard, play hard attitude is something that I really enjoy being a part of.

I rate the commission and my mates too.

Meet Catherine

Catherine has just celebrated her 1 year anniversary with IQPC. She puts her success down to team culture and training. However we suspect her hard work and dedication has allot to do with it!

IQPC has been a positive first step from my university studies into a corporate role. From day one I’ve received ongoing training and support from my dedicated managers and encouraging team.

Culture is a key element of our work environment and I’ve felt the positive atmosphere has given me a platform to succeed in my role. We strive on not only achieving our set goals but also exceeding them. This has pushed me to challenge myself to display the best of my abilities.

Working within a high-performing team with such talented colleagues makes me proud to know I’ve earnt my place beside them. My manager has instilled in me that there’s always room for improvement and this has been the most impactful takeaway for me during my time at IQPC.

Every day I step into the office knowing I’ll learn something new and leave with a continual drive to do better for both myself and the team.

Meet Julia

The “New Kid on the Block”, Julia has only been at IQPC for 6 months, but she’s achieved a huge amount already and we’re excited to see what comes next.

When thinking of how to describe why I like working at IQPC, my main concern was how to limit it to just one paragraph. As with any job, each day brings it’s own unique set of challenges and in turn rewards.

However, the experience is heightened by the amazing team that I am proud to work alongside. One could only describe the environment here as a mini-family, each colleague ready and welcome to lend a helping hand when needed.

My time here at IQPC has been extraordinary and has shaped me significantly, with special mention to my mentor who has helped me achieve numerous work milestones in a short amount of time.

That being said, the capacity for professional progression here is thrilling, with each individual encouraged and supported in each endeavour and goal. Everything is more achievable than you think when supported by numerous co-workers who genuinely want you to succeed.

Happy Pi Day from IQPC New York

March 14 is the annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi)! And for our New York Team that seemed like a good enough excuse for some celebration… and some food!

The office was treated to many different kinds of pies, plus of course the all time New York classic pie, pizza!  Needless to say, all of the “pi” did not last for too long.

Thank you to Teneyke, our CFO (Chief Food Officer) and to the rest of the New York IQPC Culture Club for putting this together!

Happy Pi Day Everyone!
